Community Partner Activities

Crossroads of America Council partners with several community organizations throughout the year to offer Scout units and families discounted and/or "behind the scenes" experiences at attractions and events.  Families are welcome to attend events without their Scouting unit.

The 26th Annual Crossroads of America Council
Boy Scout Memorabilia Auction & Trade-O-Ree
February 2 & 3, 2018


Visit us for our 26th annual Memorabilia Auction and Trade-O-Ree Friday, February 2nd from 4 - 9:30 PM and Saturday, February 3rd from 8AM - 3PM at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Harvest Pavilion. $2 admission and free for youth in uniform.

All sorts of Scouting memorabilia offered, including Firecrafter and Order of the Arrow, council shoulder patches, handbooks, rare OA & camp patches and pins, Jamboree materials and insignia, and much more. Over 40 Scout memorabilia dealers, 200+ tables from 16 states will be there. Like the Antiques Road Show, there will be qualified Scout Memorabilia Experts to answer questions and appraise your prized Scout stuff. Just bring it in!

Monster Jam
February 10, 2018

Join us at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, February 10 and check out the action as these 10,000-pound monsters trucks come to town. With the purchase of a Saturday event ticket that starts at $16, all Scouts and their families will be given a free Friday night pit pass that will give you private access to meet drivers and see Monster Jam trucks on the stadium floor. Yeti Jump
February 10, 2018

Dare to jump into an icy, cold, Lake Cherokee at Camp Kikthawenund! Join us on Saturday, February 10th, the 107th anniversary of Scouting. The jump begins at 9:00 and ends at 10:00 AM. Scouting and non-Scouting participants ages five and older are welcome to jump through a hole in the ice before trekking to shore. Register Here

Monster Energy Supercross
March 24, 2018

Join other Scouts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, March 24 for this exciting racing sport with specialized high performance off-road motorcycles. Largest Pinewood Derby Track and Best in Show
at the Indiana State Museum 
April 3 - 8, 2018

Come race on the 125' long two and half story track in the entryway of the Indiana State Museum. It is an impressive site! Plus, take part in the best in show if your car is built more for fun than speed. Something for everyone at a great price! More information to come.

Camp Kikthawenund Fishing Derby
May 12, 2018

Join us at Camp Kikthawenund in Frankton, Indiana on Saturday, May 12 to try your hand at fishing. For Cub Scouts and siblings ages 5-10. Must pre-register (limited to 300 participants), $10.00 per participant. Participants receive a limited edition patch. Register Here

 
Go FishIN - Crew Captain Workshop
April 7, 2018

Crew Captain Workshops are for adults (e.g., educators and Scout leaders) to learn about fish biology, Indiana's aquatic ecosystems, fish management in Indiana, basic angling skills, and angler ethics. Participants will become Crew Captains and can then take this knowledge and these skills to their classrooms and community. Crew Captains also can receive educational materials and fishing equipment to implement the program.

No fishing experience is needed and no fishing license is required during the workshop. All fishing equipment will be provided. Pre-registration is required.

Camp Belzer 100th Anniversary Event
June 30, 2018

Join us on Saturday, June 30th from 1:00 - 4:00 PM for a great day celebrating Camp Belzer's 100th anniversary. Activities include a rededication at 2:00 PM, camp tours and activities for youth. The Museum will be open and a keepsake item will be provided. Food (hot dogs, chips & juice) will be provided.

Cost is $5 per person, $10 for families. No pre-registration needed. Current, past and future staffers, campers and leaders are all invited.

Merit Badge and Advancement Activities

Throughout the year, Crossroads of America Council will host several merit badge and rank advancement opportunities for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Many of these are offered in conjunction with Community Partners such as Microsoft and the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, to name a few. Check back often as new activities will be added frequently.

Fingerprinting and Crime Prevention Merit Badge 2018 - Date and more information will be posted soon.

Come to this workshop at the Indiana State Police Museum to earn your badge in Fingerprinting and/or Crime Prevention*, led by a certified merit badge counselor.

*You must complete several prerequisites for the Crime Prevention badge. Click here for the workbook.

IPL Merit Badge Partnership Incentive
Through December 31, 2017

Scouts who earn the Energy or Sustainability merit badge in 2017 will receive a lantern courtesy of IPL. To claim the incentive, the unit Advancement Chair must submit the merit badge completion form to any council Scout Shop.

St. Vincent Merit Badge Partnership Incentive
Through December 31, 2017

Scouts who earn the First Aid merit badge in 2017 will receive a first aid kit courtesy of St. Vincent. To claim the incentive, the unit Advancement Chair must submit the merit badge completion form to any council Scout Shop.
